The brief was to renovate this heritage theatre in the heart of Zejtun. Fabric and structural renovation were necessary throughout the project. A major challenge was to reinforce the existing 12m span theatre heavily spalled concrete roof structure without altering the false ceiling and remain within budget. A combinations of steel beams, purlins and steel decking was proposed to support existing concrete slab and acts a permanent formwork for future replacement of the existing concrete slab.
